The Rummy Llama

Nothing makes a holiday party like a punch. If you’re like me, you’re tired of the same old eggnog year after year. I recently served this drink as a punch at one of my client’s holiday parties and it was a big hit. It is a rich and attractive drink with all the seasonal flavors you’ve become accustomed to, and easy drinking to boot. My problem with eggnog is that after the first one, I’ve had enough. It’s just too heavy. The addition of the soy milk in this recipe makes all the difference. I’ve had plenty of these without ever feeling full. You can drink this as a single cocktail and serve it on the rocks or multiply the recipe out to make a big punch.

Everything in this recipe should be fairly accessible. If you don’t have Benedictine on hand, you could substitute some amaretto or Frangelica. And any rum will do, but a dark Jamaican rum like Goslings will give you the most depth of flavor. In the early stages of development, we used Bacardi Orange which was actually pretty delicious. So feel free to experiment, this recipe, like all recipes, should just be a jumping off point.

Happy Holidays!
